What kind of light does a heat lamp give off?
I am doing a science project on the effects of color on the absorption of light. Unexpectedly the orange actually absorbed the most. Im thinking it had to do the the heat lamp that gave off the red light not all types.
It’s called Infrared Radiation (IR). A heat lamp has a cooler filament than a lamp designed primarily for illumination, and sometimes an IR filter too to decrease the visible component further. The wavelength of such radiation is longer than the visible spectrum, and heats things illuminated by it. Visible light heats to, but many common materials reflect a greater percentage of it than IR, so IR is more efficient at heating.
