Light Up a Cozy Corner
Winter time is the perfect time to create a solemn space in your home ready as a retreat from the harshness and rigors of your daily routine. You can actually choose any nook or corner in your room to convert into a more relaxing and calming environment, and a great place to relax with a book. Here’s how to ensure you have the best lighting:
Put it near the window
Put your cozy spot near the window and this allows the natural light to filter in, which creates soft lighting during the day. During the night, the light from outside and the street lights help light up your space, besides for providing a nice view.
Choose Amber Light
You can connect the light fixture easily to a dimmer switch, and the light it provides is both focused and diffused. Dim it just enough to make your senses relax but bright enough so that there is plenty light for reading as well. You can dim it all the way to sit and meditate. Choose a lamp with amber light, and you will have a beautiful relaxing light, that is also very flattering on the features.
Floor Lamps with Warm Light
To achieve maximum coziness, you will want your lights warm. Stay away from bright fluorescents that will make your eyes squint. Go for warmer and dimmer lights. If possible, choose the lighting that will complement or enhance the color scheme of the area.
Track lights for Soft Downlights
The number one rule for making sure that the light in your home is flattering in general, is to avoid having harsh overhead lighting. Using a track light is a great way to light a cozy corner, as the light coming from them is softer, and more diffused than the light emitting from one overhead light. Choose a track with low-watt bulbs to reduce the impact ot the light.
